These two came all the way from Florida to spend some time in the mountains of Montana for the first time, and they wanted to have their engagement photos captured in The Last Best Place (who wouldn't?)!
For me, the day started with a white knuckle drive through the Gallatin Canyon, since it was 5 degrees and complete ice! I wish my eyes could take photos though, because it was beautiful!
I arrived at Ousel Falls in Big Sky, so excited to finally meet Greg and Allison! While we hiked to the waterfall, we talked a lot about a little bit of everything from dogs, to jobs, and life experiences. We stopped at a couple different spots along the trail for different photo opportunities, and it was fun to see the expression on their faces as they saw the changes in scenery.
Once we arrived at the waterfall, we had to put on some yak-tracks to help us climb down to where the falls met the frozen river. I've only ever hiked this trail in the summer, and it absolutely gushes, so it was pretty surreal to be standing directly in front of it. The majority of it was frozen, but you could still see some water flowing down underneath. It was a crazy experience to walk along this frozen river, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous about it, but the Floridians were fearless!
Greg and Allison live very adventurous and exciting lives as avid hunters and outdoor enthusiasts, and I was so inspired by all the stories they shared with me. They're goofy personalities, passion for adventure, and love for each other definitely came through in their images.
Afterward, we went out to lunch and Allison told me, with tears welling up in her eyes, that she cried when they landed here, in awe of what she was seeing. She didn't need to explain, because I knew exactly what she was talking about.
These two are definitely my kind of people and I feel so lucky that our paths have crossed. Cheers to forever!
